Pens vs Flyers Preview

Pens 48-24-6 with 4th seed place in the Eastern Conference at 102 points.
Flyers 45-24-9 with 5th seed place in the Eastern Conference at 99 points.

Flyers look to close the gap on the Pens to overtake the 4th spot in the Eastern Conference for home ice advantage in the playoffs, if they Pens and Flyers meet in the playoffs. Now only a three point gap between the two.

Ilya Bryzgalov is been on fire for the Flyers and doing very well in the net. He probably won't play and it is very doubtful. He sustained a chip fracture in his right foot on Monday.

Bobrovsky will likely play, he played yesterday against the Senators with 26 saves that carried the Flyers to a win. If he does start it will only be his third start in 21 games. He has a career record of 4-2-1 against the Pens.

The Flyers are a scoring threat with all four lines, but their top line has been red hot all season long. Hartnell, Giroux, and Jagr having a great year. The Pens look to shut them completely off.

Another line that has lately been carrying the Flyers is the line of Schenn, Briere, and Simmonds. The Pens will have to have their heads on a swivel to keep track off all these potential scoring threats.

Player that has been coming on for the Flyers is Briere. He has been on one of his worst slumps and seems to have finally broke out of it. He has gotten 2 goals and seven assist in his last four games. He seems to have gotten his scoring touch back.

On the Pens side we have a on fire Sullivan. Coming off a great game against Buffalo on a line with Sid and Duper. He had a three point night with one goal and 2 assist on the night. He game up big on the power point guarding the point with a missing Tanger.

Pens look to snap a four game home losing streak against the Flyers, but overall the Pens are 11-7 in the last eighteen games at home against the Flyers. This year four games that been decided by one goal and two games by two goals. Very close contest for both teams.

TK has scored a goal in all four contest at home against the Flyers. In those games he has had 4 goals and 1 assist.

Pens have scored at least three goals in the last ten of their eleven games. In that stretch of eleven games, they have 50 goals with an average 4.55 goals per game.
