The Pens Look to Bounce Back!

Hello everyone, I am back for tonight's game! I have been working at my internship with an NHL team and had to work home games and it happen to overlap with the Penguins games. I would like to say thank you to GF for taking over Twitter, but I am ready to get back to work. Lets start off with the Penguins practice. Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz had a new lineup during practice and it was Brain Gibbons. The Penguins are slowly getting back to a full healthy lineup and it's great to see. Tonight Geno will be playing in his 500th career NHL game! The Penguins had a horrible game against the Dallas Stars and will look to be bouncing back tonight against the Buffalo Sabres. Lets Go Pens!

3rd Period
0:00- PENS WIN 3-0 AND FLOWER GETS A SHUTOUT! FLOWER'S 4TH THIS SEASON! WHAT A GREAT JOB BY THE FLOWER AND THE PENS! LETS GO PENS!

0:27- GLASS SCORES AN EMPTY NETTER! 3-0 Pens!

1:21- Sabres have an empty net!

1:56- Time is whining down and the Pens still lead.

4:40- The Pens are limiting mistakes and playing well. This isn't all that exciting, but great to see them playing a cleaner game. Flower has been strong between the pipes tonight...to say the least.

8:46- Kuni is released and the Sabres PP is unsuccessful.

10:46- The Pens will have to kill off another Sabres PP as Kuni is sitting for slashing.

12:07- The Sabres have had a great start to the third period and taking it to the Pens. Flower is bailing out the defense and holding down the fort. He isn't allowing the Sabres to get any kind of edge.

15:45- Flower makes a great pad save on a point blank chance by Moulson, who was all alone in front of the net! Wow...just wow!

17:28- Flower made a cartwheel save and making snow angels! Unreal goaltending!

20:00- Time for the third period! Lets finish this Pens! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and the Pens take a 2-0 lead over the Sabres!

3:44- The Pens are doing a good job of keeping the puck in the Sabres zone and not letting the Sabres set up in the neutral zone.

7:53- ENGO SCORES!! Engo battles on the boards and makes the Sabres turn over the puck! Glass takes the puck to the back of the net and dishes out front to Engo! Engo buries it! 2-0 Pens!

10:47- The Pens kill off another Sabres PP.

12:47- Megna will head to the sin bin for high sticking and the Sabres will bring out their PP.

14:16- KUNI SCORES! Sid dishes a pass to Gibbons and he hits the crossbar! Kuni picks up the rebound off the post and puts it behind Miller! 1-0 Pens!

14:21- Gibbons makes a pass to Sid in front of the net and Miller dives to make the save on Sid's backhanded shot!

19:14- Flower makes a huge save on Leino and Flower puts up the rebound chance! Flower committed highway robbery!

20:00- Time for the second period! Lets put some goals on the board Pens! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and we are scoreless! The Pens out shot the Sabres 15-5!

1:09- The Pens have had the puck most of the first period and holding the Sabres to only four shots.

2:11- Megna gets speed into the Sabres zone and puts one on net. Miller makes the save and Pyatt battles for the rebound. The Pens get some good zone time with Sid, Megna, and Pyatt on a line.

4:38- The Pens kill off the Sabres PP and hold them to no shots on their PP opportunity.

6:38- The Pens will be heading onto the PK now as Glass takes a seat for high sticking.

8:00- The Sabres are able to kill off the Pens PP. The Pens had some good zone time and great looks on net. Miller was solid in the net.

10:00- The Pens will get the first PP of the game as Tallinder takes a seat for delay of game.

14:51- Flower makes a great glove save and the Pens are able to clear.

17:37- Engo snaps one on the doorstep and Miller flashes the pad to make a stop!

20:00- The puck has dropped at center ice! Time for the Pens to rebound and get a win tonight! Lets Go Pens! 

The Penguins Host the Canadiens!

The Penguins are starting a back-to-back game series. It will start tonight in Pittsburgh against the Montreal Canadiens and end in New York against the Islanders. After the Panthers game, the Penguins need to rebound and get back on track. The Panthers game was a huge wake up for the Penguins and hopefully they bounce back tonight against the Canadiens. On the injury front, Ebbett has returned to the Penguins practice and Thomas Vokoun skated for the first time today after his blot clot injury. (making it short and simple today.) The Penguins just need to come out with speed and put some on the board early. Lets Go Pens!

3rd Period
0:00- THE PENS WIN 5-1!!!!! AMAZING NIGHT FOR THE PENS AND WHAT A WAY TO BOUNCE BACK!! FLOWER WAS A BEAST AND SO WAS EVERYONE ELSE! 

1:12- Time is whining down and the Pens are defending well against the Habs.

3:10- Both teams are even.

5:10- A mad scramble ensues in front of Flower. Budaj challenges Flower, but the refs keep them away from each other. Orpik is gets hit with a cheap shot. Just craziness! Orpik and Prust are sent to the locker room. The Pens end up with a PP.

5:35- Geno makes a drop pass to Jokinen who wrist one over the net! That shot had some serious speed on it.

7:46- Sid wrist a shot that gets all the crossbar!

8:25- Jokinen puts the puck right on Neal's stick! Neal rips a wrist shot that is stopped by the pad of Budaj and the Habs clear the puck.

12:33- The Pens with a successful kill as Niskanen is set free.

14:33- The Habs have now drawn a penalty as Niskanen is sent to the sin bin for slashing. The Pens have to kill a Habs PP.

16:32- The Pens are still holding the Habs at bay, but the Habs still seem flat. Kobasew and Neal are back on the ice after going to the locker room during the second period.

20:00- The Pens need to wrap this game up and send the Habs packing! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and the Pens have extended their lead over the Habs even more 5-1!

1:04- Habs seem kinda dead right now. No life in them.

4:57- GENO SCORES!!!!! Geno with speed stays with the puck and protects the puck while going around the Habs defender! Geno puts it pass the pad of Price! Price is chased away and Budaj replaces him! 5-1 Pens!

5:24- The Pens PP comes to an end.

6:14- Sid gets space behind/between the Habs defense, but Price robs him with the glove.

7:24- Bouillon is now in the box for holding on Neal! The Pens bring out their #1 PP unit!

8:17- SID SCORES ON THE PP!!!! Tanger takes a shot pass from the blue line to the side of the net! Sid directs the puck right over the pad and blocker of Price! 4-1 Pens!

9:09- Kuni draws a call and Subban is sent off for holding. Pens to the PP.

14:14- JOKINEN SCORES HIS SECOND OF THE NIGHT!!! Neal works hard to get the puck to Maatta pinching in! Maatta takes a shot/pass to Jokinen across the ice! Right in his wheelhouse Jokinen puts it over the glove of Price! 3-1 Pens!

16:50- Habs get a 2 on 1 chance after a horrible Pens turnover in the neutral zone! It rings off the goal post!

18:30- The Habs PP comes to an end and Flower makes a great, quick pad save on a bomb by Subban.

20:00- Time to get the second period going! The Pens have to kill off a Habs PP for another 1:28! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- The first period ends with the Pens leading 2-1 over the Habs!

0:32- The Pens are going to be without Orpik for 2 minutes and the Habs get a PP.

2:20- BOURQUE SCORES! The Habs get to work behind the Pens net and Bourque emerges to put the puck over the shoulders of Flower. 2-1 Pens

3:35- PYATT SCORES ON THE PP!! Niskanen fires a cannon shot from the blue line and Pyatt redirects it right in front of Price into the goal! The Pens extend their lead to 2-0!

5:19- Now the Habs will head back to the box as Beaulieu is called for delay of game. Pens to the PP.

6:30- The Habs do a good job of killing the Pens PP as Subban is released from his prison.

8:30- Time for the Pens to get a PP chance as Subban is sent off to the sin bin for slashing.

8:53- The Pens crash the net and the puck is loose in the blue paint, but the Habs get the puck. Geno strips the Habs and keeps the Habs pinned in their own zone!

11:12- JOKINEN SCORES! The Pens get a 2 on 1 chance and Subban goes after Geno! Geno puts it right on Jokinen's stick! Jokinen puts it behind a cheating Price! 1-0 Pens

12:46- Kobasew gets a shot right on the doorstep, but Price is there to make the pad save.

13:16- The Pens are successful in killing the Habs PP!

15:16- Kobasew will take a seat for high sticking. The Pens bring out their #1 PK to face the Habs PP.

16:56- Adams gets space in the slot area and whips a shot on net, but the Habs are able to block it.

20:00- It's hockey night in Pittsburgh! Lets rebound Pens! Lets Go Pens! 

The Penguins Will Try to Tame the Panthers!

The Penguins will be hosting the Florida Panthers at Consol Energy Center! It's hockey night in Pittsburgh! The Penguins have had a few days off since the Capitals game (around four days) and that has been a huge help for the injured players. Paul Martin and Jayson Megna have been skating and progress in their recovery. Along with some other injured Penguins players including James Neal, who said he is ready for tonight's game. This is a great sign as the Penguins are slowly gaining back players and getting healthy. On a side note, Sidney Crosby has been named the Captain of Team Canada! Congrats to our Captain on becoming his Nation's team Captain, which is well deserved! The following players are on the ice for the pre-game warmup: Martin, Megna, Kobasew. Great to see these injured players back on the ice before a game! This game should be a good game for the Penguins and hopefully they play a full 60 minute game. Lets Go Pens!

3rd Period
0:00- The Pens fall to the Panthers 5-1! Horrible game and finish for the Pens. Need to move on and rebound in the next game.

1:34- The Pens will have a PP as Upshall sits for delay of game.

3:46- It doesn't look like the Pens rest helped them and rather hurt them. Seems like after long breaks the Pens momentum gets killed.

5:58- MATTHIAS SCORES! The Pens defense is beat and so is Flower on the blocker side. 5-1 Panthers.

6:10- HUBERDEAU SCORES! The Panthers crash into the net and Huberdeau puts it right into the net. Toronto reviews the play and takes a long time. 4-1 Panthers.

8:25- Both teams are back to full strength.

8:43- Barkov stick handles to the front of the net, but Flower commits highway robbery to keep the Pens in this one!

8:59- Bjugstad gets a step on Maatta, but Flower comes out to challenge and lays out to make the save! Great job by the Flower!

10:25- Bergenheim and Orpik collide and it's like a car crash! Wow crazy! They both head to the box and we are back to 4 on 4 hockey.

12:42- Sid showing his great hand-eye coordination as he bats the puck out of the air towards the net!

14:49- NISK-CANNON SCORES! Geno is stopped by the pad of Clemmensen and stays with the play. He passes from behind the net to the point where Tanger is at! Tanger goes over to Niskanen! Niskanen fires a shot from the point and it slides under the pads of Clemmensen! 3-1 Panthers!

15:25- The Pens have had enough and are laying huge hits on the Panthers. Tanger even sends one Panther into the Pens bench.

16:44- Sid and Weaver battle for space in front of the net. Sid has had enough! 4 on 4 hockey as Weaver and Sid sit in the box.

18:43- KULIKOV SCORES! The puck takes a wild bounce off the back boards and Kulikov is left alone in front of the net. He puts it around the left outstretch pad of Flower. 3-0 Panthers.

20:00- Time for the third period! The Pens need to get in Clemmensen's face and out work the Panthers to win this! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period comes to an end and the Panthers extend their lead to 2-0 over the Pens.

0:45- Neal drags the puck around a Panther and fires a shot. Clemmensen squeezes his arm to his body to make the stop.

2:19- The Pens had a couple of good looks on the PP, but they can't capitalize.

4:19- Geno draws a peanlty and Upshall is headed off for hooking. Pens PP time!

6:26- SHORE SCORES! The Panthers get some time and space once again in the Pens zone. Flower is swarmed and deep in his net. Shore is able to put it in once again. 2-0 Panthers.

7:18- Kuni is set free and they take the puck into the Panthers zone. The Pens are looking to take the penalty kill momentum and turn it into a goal.

9:13- Sid is released from the box. Panthers with regular PP for 1:55.

9:18- Kuni heads to the box now for slashing. 5 on 3 for 5 seconds for the Panthers.

10:35- Sutter gets a 1 on 1 chance and can't cut in. Adams follows in and puts the puck on net. Clemmensen covers.

11:37- Sid is called for hooking and the Panthers will get another PP.

12:28- The NHL's #1 PK unit takes care of business against the Panthers PP.

14:28- Glass is headed back to the box for high sticking. Panthers PP time.

15:09- We are back to 5 on 5 hockey!

18:08- Geno drives to the net and his momentum takes him into Clemmensen. Geno tries to jam in the puck, but it's a no go.

18:36- Flower makes a stop and lays on the puck, but it tickles through. Jokinen is behind him and gets the puck out of harms way!

20:00- Second period time and the Pens need to put pressure on Clemmensen! Dirty goals and let Kuni irritate him! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and the Panthers have the lead 1-0 over the Pens after a shorthanded goal.

1:32- Flower stretches out the pads to make a save with a huge mix up in front of his net. Great save and awareness by the Pens netminder.

2:52- The Pens PP ends.

4:14- SHORE SCORES A SHORTHANDED GOAL! The Pens get caught up ice and the Panthers get a 2 on 1 chance. Tanger goes down to block the pass, but Shore fires a shot over the glove shoulder of Flower. 1-0 Panthers.

4:52- The Pens are getting the first PP of the game as Gilbert is sent to take a seat for high sticking.

5:58- Sid gets some time behind the net and outlets to Kuni. Clemmensen gets the pad out to make the save once again. The Pens are knocking on the Panthers door.

11:07- Bergenheim takes a shot and it goes off the post, hits Flower's back, and starts to move towards the goal line. Flower reaches back with his blocker hand and sweeps the puck out of harms way!

11:50- Geno gets speed through the neutral zone and puts the puck at the pads of Clemmensen. Neal whacks at the rebound, but Clemmensen is able to cover for a whistle.

13:32- The Pens try a lead pass, but it's out of the reach of Sutter as Clemmensen gets to it first and stirs it away.

16:36- Sid and Kuni get a play going, but Clemmensen is able to make the pad stop.

18:34- The Pens are not sharp to start this game as they have iced the puck a few times to start this game.

20:00- It's Hockey Night in Pittsburgh! The Penguins are getting back some healthy players and should take it to the Panthers! Lets Go Pens! 

Rivalry Game in Pittsburgh!

It's hockey night in Pittsburgh and the Penguins will be facing their rivals the Washington Capitals! The Penguins and Capitals have a great rivalry and it has been boosted since Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin entered the league. Since that time the Penguins lead the series and still lead it over both teams history. On the injury front, James Neal has been out for a lower-body injury for the past two days, but was at the morning skate. Neal however is not on the ice currently for the warm-up. The Penguins have called up Pierre-Luc Letoumeau-Leblond (fantastic name) from WBS after Brian Gibbons left the game against Calgary with a lower-body injury. It looks like Brandon Sutter may play on Sid's line tonight, but the lineups will be a game time decision. The Penguins have to come out with speed and energy to start this game. They cannot let the Capitals get any momentum going and need to keep them pinned down in their own end. Also the Penguins have to play a full 60 minutes to come out with a win tonight. Lets Go Pens!

0:00- PENS WIN 4-3 AGAINST THE CAPS!!!! THE PENGUINS DID AMAZING! MAATTA WITH THE GAME WINNING GOAL! FLOWER WAS GREAT IN THE GOAL ONCE AGAIN! 

1:08- Caps empty net.

1:54- MAATTA SCORES!!!! Geno takes a tour of the Caps zone and drops it off to Maatta at the point! Maatta fakes a shot and shuts down Ward! Maatta then first a shot through traffic into the five-hole! 4-3 Pens!

2:47- Time is ticking away and both teams are dumping in pucks trying to set up offensive zone time.

7:55- Caps short PP is over.

8:25- JOKINEN SCORES!!! Sutter passes a backhander across the front of the Caps zone and through the skates of a Caps defender! Jokinen rifles on into the net! 3-3 tie.

9:58- Geno is now back in the box this time for interference. 4 on 4 for 1:39.

10:19- Green is back in the box for tripping up Geno. Pens to the PP once again.

10:55- Geno and Eriskine are released from the box.

11:25- OVECHKIN SCORES! Ovechkin is left alone and puts it top shelf. 3-2 Caps.

12:55- Geno goes to the sin bin for high sticking and Erskine goes for roughing. 4 on 4 hockey.

13:50- Ovechkin slashes Geno right on the hand/wrist and Geno looks to be in pain. He is attended to by the medical staff, but comes back onto the ice looking ready to play.

15:55- Sid and Kuni get a 2 on 1 chance, but a Caps player is coming up fast. Sid puts a pass over to Kuni and he just can't get a good shot off as the puck hit is skate first.

17:28- The Pens PP ends. Sid did some great battling for the puck behind the net and sent a Caps player flying to meet the ice after a battle. Great stuff on the PP, but still tied at 2-2.

19:28- Geno is tripped up on the play by Green and the Pens will get a PP chance.

20:00- Third period is underway! The Pens have to keep taking it to the Caps and keep them pinned down in their zone! Also to make clean, tape to tape passes! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and we are tied 2-2!

0:10- The Caps get a 2 on 1, but it turns into a 1 on 1 chance. However Flower sweeps the puck away before the Caps player can reach it. Flower makes some good saves at the end of the second period.

0:52- Geno makes a great stick move to get the puck free and puts one on net. Neurvirth is able to make the save.

3:52- PYATT SCORES HIS FIRST GOAL AS A PENGUIN!! Jokinen turns in the Caps zone and passes across to Maatta coming in late on the play! Maatta holds and passes to Pyatt! He puts it over the glove shoulder of Neurvirth! 2-2 tie!

4:16- Kuni fires a shot from the boards towards the net and Sutter is able to redirect right in front of the net. Neurvirth makes the pad save.

5:29- CHIMERA SCORES! Orlov passes from the point to Johansson at the side of the net. Without hesitation he passes across the goal mouth to Chimera who wrist one in an open net. 2-1 Caps.

10:07- TANGER SCORES! The Pens get a 4 on 2 chance. Sid drives the center and makes a sick backwards pass to Tanger coming in later! Tanger fires, it goes off a Caps stick and into the net! Kuni with a great exit out of the Pens zone to get the chance up ice on the Tanger goal! 1-1 tie game!

10:41- The Pens are having trouble making clean tape to tape passes to exit their zone and get into the Caps zone. Really killing them right now.

15:19- Flower has been solid in the net and made quality saves.

17:25- The second period has started with some speed and both teams have had some great chances on net.

20:00- Time for the second period! The Pens need to pick it up and get this game going their way! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and the Caps have the lead 1-0 over the Pens...for now.

2:33- The Pens have a successful PK. Flower made some solid saves and the PKers did a great job of getting in passing and shooting lanes.

4:33- The Caps are now getting a PP change as Drazenovic is called for tripping up Ovechkin. The Pens bring out their PK unit.

7:08- The Pens PP comes to an end. The Pens had some great chances towards the end, but Neurvirth was up to the task. The Pens missed the net at times also.

6:51- LAICH SCORES SHORTHANDED! Tanger makes a bad pass up ice, but Laich takes the puck for a 2 on 1 chance in the Pens zone. Liach holds and moves around a fallen Tanger trying to block and puts one in the net. Caps strike first 1-0.

7:08- The Pens will get the first PP of the game and Ward will sit for tripping.

8:40- Sid gets the puck after the Caps turn it over. Sid gets it up to Kuni who has some space, but Neurvirth makes the shoulder save on his shot!

10:50- The Pens get some great offensive zone time and moving the puck around. It goes to the piont and is shot! Neurvirth makes the save, but the puck trickles through to the right before the goal line! The ref had already blown the whistle and play stopped when it trickled through.

11:36- Huge ovation for Dan Bylsma after a tribute video congratulating him on becoming the Pens winningest coach in franchise history!

14:22- Sutter gets caught in the throat area by Bortuzzo's stick and is shaking up on the play. He is still on the bench.

19:16- Sid carries the puck into the Caps zone and does a spin-o-rama! He backhands one and Neurvirth flashes the pad to make the save!

20:00- The puck has dropped in Pittsburgh! The Pens are ready to put the Caps away in this game! Lets Do It Pens! Lets Go Pens! 

The Penguins Finish Their Western Canada Road Trip!

The Penguins are in Calgary to finish up their Western Canada road trip tonight. This is the Penguins second game in a back-to-back set. The Penguins are coming off a overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers last night and will look to bounce back. On a good note, Sidney Crosby scored a goal and checked the Oilers off the list of teams (very short one now) that he hasn't scored against. The Penguins want to close out this road trip with a win before coming back to Pittsburgh! The Penguins just need to stay focus, use their speed, and keep up the offensive pressure. Lets Go Pens!

1:16- Flames empty net.

2:34- Flower makes a quick pad save on shot through traffic!

3:40- The Pens ice the puck and end up calling a timeout.

4:33- The Flames looked like a huge weight was lifted off their shoulders. They have more jump to their step.

7:55- Flames PP ends and the Pens are back to full strength.

8:30- Flames still have a PP for 35 seconds.

8:31- BACKLUND SCORES! Backlund just runs right over Tanger and whacks at the bouncing puck to put it over the glove shoulder of Flower! 2-1 Pens!

8:50- Geno gets the puck after a Flames turn-over and turns the Flames defense inside out. Berra is there to make the pad save on Geno's slot shot!

10:31- Cammalleri takes a cross-checking penalty and we will have some 4 on 4 hockey for 2:00. Glass did a great job on the PK and drew that penalty.

10:45- The Pens have kill off about half of the Flames PP.

12:56- Bortuzzo runs right over Giordano in the neutral zone and a penalty is called. A scrum erupts at the Pens blue line. Bortuzzo is sent to the locker room and Flames have a 5 minute PP. Bortuzzo is called for a illegal check to the head and gets a match penalty.

13:40- The Pens kill off the PP and Geno is out of the box. He comes into the zone with speed and drops a pass to Tanger. Tanger fires a shot just wide of the net!

14:14- Gibbons is out for the rest of the game with a lower body injury.

14:48- Flames PP for 1:05 now.

15:44- Geno is now off to the penalty box for holding. 4 on 4 hockey for 56 seconds.

16:48- The Pens are getting a PP as Monahan is called for hooking.

17:04- Geno makes a BA pass between his legs and behind him to Jokinen flying into the Flames zone.

1:24- Sid and Kuni get a 2 on 1 chance. Sid releases a quick shot and it rings off the goal post!

2:11- The Pens are successful and Bortuzzo is set free.

4:11- Now the Flames are getting a PP as Bortuzzo is called for holding of stick.

4:37- The Flames are able to kill off another Pens PP. The Pens had some good looks on net this time.

6:37- Geno rips one and it goes off Berra! Neal draws a penalty on Smid giving the Pens another PP chance.

8:31- The Flames kill off the Pens PP and did a good job, even getting a good shorthanded opportunity.

9:40- The Flames get a great chance on net and Flower makes a save while falling down! Maybe using the back of his head to make the save!

10:31- The Pens are headed onto the PP as Stajan trips up Tanger.

13:18- NISKANEN SCORES!! Tanger makes a great move to get the puck out of the Pens zone and up the ice! Niskanen fires a shot from the blue line! It finds its way through traffic and through the five-hole of Berra! 2-0 Pens!

15:47- The Pens with a great PK effort and keep the Flames from setting anything up in the offensive zone. Neal is released from the box.

17:47- The Pens are called for too-many-men on the ice. Flames getting a PP opportunity.

19:52- Gibbons is still not the ice for the Pens.

20:00- Second period is underway! The Pens need to keep taking it to the Flames and keep them from gaining any momentum! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- The first period ends and the Pens have the lead 1-0 over the Flames!

1:14- The Pens started a bit slow, but turned it up and starting taking it to the Flames. Flower has been sharp in the net.

3:26- KUNI SCORES! Kuni receives a pass and fires a bad angle shot! The puck flies pass Berra into the net! The Pens score first! 1-0 Pens!

6:28- Gibbons is now missing from the Pens bench.

7:51- Niskanen takes a shot from the point, which is stick away by Berra. The Pens now have nine shots and looking to be feeling it more now. Berra has been strong for the Flames and keeping the Pens at bay.

8:56- Engo is back on the bench for the Pens.

10:19- Engo has headed to the locker room.

10:37- Kuni passes up to an open Sid. He takes off and tries to put one pass Berra, but just isn't able! Only a matter of time.

11:01- Sid whacks at the puck to get it into the Flames zone. He puts a lightning quick shot on net and Berra is just able to make the save. What a shot by the Captain!

13:55- Flower has to make a great stick save. The Flames have six shots to the Pens one.

15:19- Engo and McGrattan drop the gloves. McGrattan gets a good first hit on Engo and he goes down. Thus ends the fight. Engo appears to be just fine as he heads to the box.

16:05- Neal passes across the ice to Geno who fires off a shot! Berra makes the pad save.

20:00- The puck has dropped in Calgary! The Pens need to come out with some speed and take it to the Flames early! Lets Go Pens! 

The Penguins Invade Edmonton!

The Penguins are in Edmonton tonight to take on the Oilers on their Western Canada road trip! The Penguins are coming off a shootout win on Monday night against the Vancouver Canucks. They had some time off to rest after the grueling game and will look to extend their winning luck against Western Conference teams. The Penguins are looking to keep this road trip going strong. Fun fact for tonight's game is that the Penguins Captain Sidney Crosby hasn't gotten a goal against the Oilers. That is right now in Edmonton or Pittsburgh! Sid will look to be changing that tonight and it should be an awesome game since a media reporter brought it to his attention today. Sid will be wanting to change that asap. Hopefully the Penguins can ready to play and get some early goals! Lets Go Pens!

3:19- The Pens are doing a good job of keeping the Oilers from setting up in their zone.

6:31- Both teams are back to full strength!

7:43- 4 on 4 for 1:10.

7:44- TANGER SCORES ON THE PP!!! Sid wins the faceoff and Tanger gets the puck! Tanger turns over the wrist and whips one into the net! 3-2 Pens!

7:47- Nugent-Hopkins takes a holding penalty and the Pens have a 4 on 3 PP for 1:15.

8:32- Neal is sent to the sin bin along with Marincin. Neal for unsportsmanlike conduct and Marincin for cross-checking.

9:53- HALL SCORES! The puck is turned over and the Oilers take it into the Pens zone. Hall picks up the loose puck in front of the net and puts it around the pad of Zatkoff. The Oilers tie it 2-2.

11:43- The Pens have a bad change and it gives Hall and Nugent-Hopkins a 2 on 1 chance. Orpik makes a great defensive play to break up the pass!

13:07- Tanger drills Hall into the boards and he gets up slowly making his way back to the bench!

15:32- Oilers are back to full strength and the Pens PP comes to an end.

17:32- Marincin takes a seat for hooking and the Pens get a PP! Taking the momentum from the charging Oilers after their goal. The Pens have a chance to get the momentum swing back their way.

1:47- The Pens are getting a PP! Gagner sits for hooking.

3:30- The Pens have been really feeling it more then the first period. Hopefully the Pens keep up the pressure and not just go back to being defensive.

6:05- The game has opened up this period and both teams are getting quality chances on net.

9:04- The Pens crash the net and Engo keeps the puck alive while sitting on his butt! The Pens get some great pressure on a tired Oilers team!

12:05- SID SCORES!! Gibbons enters the Oilers zone with speed and drops the puck back to Sid. Sid goes to pass across to Kuni, but it goes off an Oilers skate and through the five hole of Dubnyk! 2-0 Pens!

15:35- Sid uses his skates to get the puck up to his stick, but the pass is to hard for him to control.

17:51- NEAL SCORES! Geno works behind the Oilers net and outlets to Neal at the side. He elevates the puck over the glove shoulder of Dubnyk! The Pens take the lead 1-0!

19:15- The Pens kill it off as Tanger is released from the box.

20:00- Time for the second period! The Pens have to kill off a PP for another 47 seconds and then need to bring it to the Oilers! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and we are scoreless!

0:08- Oliers PP now for 47 seconds.

1:23- Tanger heads to the box for contact to the head and now 4 on 4 hockey for 1:14.

2:09- The Pens will finally have a chance at a PP as Smyth for holding sits.

3:03- Zatkoff makes a huge pad save and Scuderi gets it out of harms way. The Pens need to make cleaner passes and plays.

4:45- Engo get a great chance in front of the Oilers net, but it stays out!

7:16- The Pens haven't had many opportunities to start this game, but I see their game picking up later.

10:08- Geno does some amazing stick handling in the Oilers zone, but can't put any in the back of the net!

12:27- The Oilers PP ends after a huge save by Zatkoff with someone on the doorstep. The Oilers have gotten some offensive zone pressure going and the Zatkoff has been sharp.

14:27- Pyatt takes a seat for hooking and the Pens bring out their PK unit.

17:52- Zatkoff has made two great saves to start this game. Neither team has gotten any real zone time or pressure going so far in this game.

The Penguins in a Late Night Vancouver Battle!

The Penguins are starting out their Western road trip in Vancouver against the Canucks tonight in a late 10pm game! The Penguins are coming off a two game winning streak to start 2014 and look to start strong on the road! Also some Olympic news came out today!

Our Captain Sidney Crosby and his winger Chris Kunitz were named to Team Canada, but James Neal, Marc-Andre Fleury, and Kris Letang were snubbed for spots! It's great to see that Kunitz has been recognized for accomplishments this season and the spot was well earned by the veteran winger. It's sad to see that Neal, Fleury, and Letang were snubbed when they have tremendous talent, but this could motivate them for the 2018 Olympics!

Also to no one's surprise, Evgeni Malkin was named to Team Russia!

Team Finland also announced their roster and two Penguins earned a spot! Jussi Jokinen and our very own Olli Maatta!

Team USA will be with the services of Orpik and Martin on defense!

It's a great story for both Maatta and Kunitz! It's great to see the Penguin players getting recognized for their hard work and they will all do a great job representing their respected countries! Well the Olympics are approaching, but the Penguins will be thinking about the Canucks tonight and push their Olympic thoughts aside! Lets Go Pens!

0:54- SID SCORES!!!! The Pens empty their net again! Jokinen fires a shot, Kuni directs it from the front of the net to the side. Sid kicks it to his stick and puts it under the pad of Lack! 4-4 tie game!

1:11- TANGER SCORES!!! The Pens win an offensive zone faceoff and Jokinen puts it to Tanger. He fires one from the blue line and it blows pass the glove of Lack! 4-3 Canucks!

1:30- The Pens have an empty net.

4:13- The Canucks doing a good job of being in a defensive stance to defend their two goal lead over the Pens.

6:36- KASSIAN SCORES! There is a loose, bouncing puck in the Pens zone and Kassan gets to it first. He bats at the bouncing puck and it goes in. 4-2 Canucks.

6:53- HIGGINS SCORES! Hanson makes a sauer pass over the stick of Niskanen to Higgins. He is left alone and puts it through the pads of Flower. 3-2 Canucks have the lead.

9:03- The Canucks kill off the Pens second PP of the game.

9:27- Tanger is back on the ice for the Pens PP.

11:03- Sestito takes a charging penalty and the Pens going onto the PP. Tanger heads down the runway to the locker room after taking a hard hit from Sestito.

12:21- TANEV SCORES! Tanev whips a hard shot and Flower is screened. The puck goes off the skate of Maatta and into the net. The Canucks have tied it up 2-2.

12:28- Flower makes a huge pad save on Tanev after the Canucks were passing it like crazy while entering the Pens zone.

15:08- Sestito sticks handles around Despres and tries to use his long reach to put the puck around the outstretch pad of Flower. Flower is up to the challenge.

19:32- Canucks PP comes to an end and Despres is let free from his prison.

20:00- Time for the third period! The Pens have to kill off the Canucks PP for another 28 seconds and then take it to the Canucks! Lets Go Pens!

4:25- GARRISON SCORES! Sid gets the puck off a board battle and tries an outlet pass down the middle to Gibbons. Gibbons can't reach it and Garrison ends up with it. He fires one over the blocker shoulder of Flower. 2-1 Pens.

5:12- The Pens are really playing at a top level. Canucks are lucky to have Lack in the net and playing well, as the Canucks could be down by more than two.

6:08- Tanger comes busting into the Canucks zone and picks up the loose puck in the slot! Lack stops Tanger's point blank shot again!

7:01- Geno outlets to a wide open Tanger in the slot area! He wrist one, but Lack is able to make the save!

9:13- Sutter fires a shot, but it's blocked by a leg and the Canucks clear up ice.

12:12- Gibbons drops the puck to Tanger in the Canucks zone! Tanger rings one off the goal post!

14:35- GENO SCORES!! Neal puts the puck to the slot area and a Canuck gets some of it, but Geno is able to get the puck and rip it pass Lack! 2-0 Pens!

14:51- Hanson gets speed and a breakaway chance! Flower stays with him and makes the pad save! Huge stop by the Flower!

17:34- The Canucks crash the net after winning a faceoff in the Pens zone, but Flower covers the puck with his glove for the whistle.

A Day of Returns!

The Penguins are looking to keep 2014 going strong with their second win of the new year, this time against the Winnipeg Jets! This game will be a big one for the Penguins, because it's a night of returns for the team. It has been confirmed that Kris Letang is ready to return to the lineup today! Not only will the Penguins be getting a top defensemen back, but it looks like center Evgeni Malkin will be making his return. Bylsma ruled him a game time decision, but it seems to be almost certain he will be playing! It's great to see that the Penguins are starting to get healthy once again! Time to get this afternoon game underway! Lets Go Pens!

7:20- NISK-CANNON SCORES!!!!!! Sid looses the faceoff in the offensive zone, but Kuni fights to put the puck to the point while falling down! Maatta goes to Niskanen and he rips a hard shot right between the pads of Montoya! 6-3 Pens!

7:26- The Jets turn over the puck once again and Geno gets speed. He gets a one on one, but Montoya is able to close the pads to make a save!

11:31- GENO SCORES HIS 2ND!!!!! Byfuglien turns over the puck in the Jets zone and Neal fires a shot! Montoya makes the pad save and Geno picks up the loose puck! He buries it! 5-5 tie game!

13:44- Jokinen picks the puck of a Jet and puts the pass to Geno behind the net. Geno outlets to Jokinen busting into the slot area. Montoya with a huge pad save!

15:30- Gibbons gets behind the Jets defense and stops up looking for a trailer, but no one is there. Sid outlets to the front of the net and Gibbons gets a shot off! Montoya with the save and Niskanen fires on wide! Great pressure by the Pens!

20:00- The Pens need to clean up their game and play the full 60 minutes! Time to get this game back in the third period! Lets Go Pens!


2nd Period
0:00- Second period ends and the Jets have the lead 5-4!

0:17- KANE SCORES AGAIN! Pyatt turns over the puck in the defensive zone and the Pens fall apart in their own zone. Kane is left alone at the side of the net and players crash the net. Kane backhands one up high. 5-4 Jets.

2:29- KANE SCORES! Orpik falls and turns over the puck at the Jets blue line. Kane takes the puck and puts on the after burners. Scuderi can't caught him and Kane puts it over the glove shoulder of Flower. 4-4 tie game.

3:54- The Pens have a great PK effort and Geno is released from the box.

5:54- The Jets will be getting a PP opportunity as Geno is called for hooking.

8:22- JOKINEN SCORES!!!! Jokinen, Geno, Neal, Orpik, and Engo get some great offensive zone time and keep the puck in! Geno finds Jokinen in the slot. Jokinen rips a shot, which is deflected by a Jet and pass the glove of Montoya! The Pens retake the lead 4-3!

10:00- The Jets get some time in the Pens zone, but Flower makes a great save though traffic.

13:58- WHEELER SCORES! The Pens turn over the puck and Wheeler pounces on it. He fires a shot that is deflected by Orpik and it goes pass Flower. It was a rocket shot. 3-3 tie game!

15:01- NEAL SCORES HIS 2ND!!! The Jets cough up the puck on the boards! Neal is there and turns to shoot the puck! It goes off the stick of a Jet, but Montoya is caught sleeping! 3-2 Pens!

15:35- NEAL SCORES ON THE PP!! Tanger and Neal exchange shots on the PP blue line. Tanger draws two Jets and passes over to an open Neal! Neal wrist a rocket shot over the blocker shoulder of Montoya! What a shot! 2-2 tie game!

15:48- Jokinen feeds to Geno in front of the net! Geno falls down, but battles on the ice with Montoya! Geno draws a tripping penalty on Wheeler and the Pens head to the PP!

16:26- Little gets a hard shot off in the slot area, but it goes high and wide!

18:54- GENO SCORES! Byfuglien turns over in his own zone and Geno is back with one other Jet player! He blast one under the blocker of Montoya! 2-1 Jets!

3:08- Sid gets a breakaway shot, but Montoya makes the save. Byfuglien hooks up Sid on the play and gets a penalty shot! Sid shoots wide of the net! 4 on 4 hockey now as Byfuglien and Engo receive minor penalties.

3:34- Jets PP comes to an end!

5:19- Jets PP for 1:36. The Pens have to kill.

5:43- Niskanen gets an interference penalty and it will be 4 on 4 hockey for 24 seconds.

The Penguins First Game of 2014!

The Penguins are ready to start 2014 the right way and that is with a win at Consol against the New York Rangers! The Penguins have acquired forward Taylor Pyatt from the Rangers and will play tonight. He is a great addition to the Penguins lineup and he will make his Penguins debut tonight. Kris Letang skated with the team this morning, but he is not ready to come back just yet. He is not the only one, Evgeni Malkin skated with the team yesterday, but not today. Malkin is still not ready. They are both close to coming back, but we will still have to wait. The rest of the lineup will be a game time decision and Flower will be between the pipes. Lets start this new year of right! Lets Go Pens!

8:07- MCDONAGH SCORES! Zuccarello shoots from the blue line and it goes off the shin pad of McDonagh through the pads of Flower. Orpik had lost McDonagh after battling with him behind the net prior. 4-2 Pens.

9:56- The Rangers are able to kill off the Pens PP.

11:56- The Pens get a PP as Zuccarello gets a high sticking penalty.

12:17- ZUCCARELLO SCORES! The Rangers win the battle on the boards and Zuccarello gets the puck. He has a quick release and puts one up high pass Flower. 4-1 Pens

13:04- Flower has made some huge saves this period and kept the Rangers from getting anything.

0:14- The Rangers get a PP before the period ends as Pyatt is caught for cross-checking.

0:40- Neal fires a shot that Lundqvist saves. Jokinen crashes the net, but the Rangers and Lundqvist hold him from getting a hat-trick.

1:31- SID SCORES!!!! Kuni with a great forecheck to keep the puck in the Rangers zone. He picks the defense of the Rangers and outlets to Sid in the slot! Sid unleashes a backhand like no other! 4-0 Pens!

3:00- Kreider rifles a shot by Flower commits highway robbery with his glove! What a quick glove by the Flower!

3:39- Jokinen gets a tripping penalty and the Rangers will get their second PP of the game.

4:47- McDonagh fires a shot and it redirected on its way to the net. Flower has to make a quick pad save and steers it to the corner. The Pens start up ice.

7:32- Bortuzzo and Scuderi are stuck in their own end and were exhausted along with the forwards. The Pens are able to sustain the Rangers pressure and Flower makes a save, holds for a whistle.

9:31- The Rangers get a 3 on 2 chance, but Scuderi does a great job of blocking their passing opportunity and gets the puck out of harms way.

13:37- The Rangers get some offensive zone time, but the Pens do a good job of clearing the puck. Flower makes a great pad save and pushes the puck to the corner for the clear.

18:51- JOKINEN SCORES HIS 2ND OF THE NIGHT!!! Gibbons with good speed down the wing passes to Jokinen in front. Jokinen turns it to the backhand and it goes off McDonagh behind Lundqvist! 3-0 Pens!

20:00- Time for the second period! The Pens need to keep up the pressure! Lets Go Pens!


1st Period

0:00- First period ends and the Pens come out with the lead 2-0!

1:20- JOKINEN SCORES!! Despres makes a bank pass up to Jokinen who gives it to Gibbons behind the net! Gibbons battles and gets the puck out to Jokinen at the side of the net! Jokinen with a sweet, quick shot! 2-0 Pens!

1:54- Neal gets speed down the wing and fires a shot up high on Lundqvist. Lundqvist covers the puck in the blue paint before the Pens can capitalize.

2:45- Sill is released after a great PK effort by the Pens. Flower made a few key saves to keep the Rangers at bay.

4:45- The Rangers will now have a PP chance as Sill heads to the box for high sticking.

6:51- KUNI SCORES ON THE PP! Niskanen fires a shot from the point, which Sid kicks over to Kuni in front of the net. Kuni kicks the puck up to his stick and puts it in a open net! 1-0 Pens!

8:49- The Pens are getting the first PP of the game as Nash goes to the box for hooking.

11:12- Adams drags the puck around waiting for Lundqvist to go down and he hits goal post! So close for Adams!

14:14- The Rangers get another icing. It's their third icing this period. They are having a tough time clearing the puck out of their zone.

16:45- Flower makes a glove save and holds for a whistle. The Pens do a good job of boxing out the Rangers looking for a rebound chance.

19:30- Bortuzzo fires a shot from the point and Lundqvist uses his mask to make a save.

20:00- The puck has dropped at Consol! Lets start 2014 of right! Lets Go Pens!
