Pens vs Bruins (4-7 L)

The Pens are finally back in Pittsburgh and they played the Bruins. Johnny started in the goal for the Pens. It was a physical game and it seem to favor the Pens. Asham scored his first goal in a Pens uniform. Sid scored and had two assists. The Pens were up 4-2 going into the 3rd period. Then thing went downhill from there. The Pens completely fell apart, the Bruins scored 5 unanswered goals (one was a empty net goal). It was a horrible 3rd period for th Pens. They ended up losing 4-7!! The Pens need to get back on track. They will face the Lightning this Friday (the Lightning are playing the Caps tonight). Hopefully, the Lightning will be a bit tried and this can give the Pens a chance to get back on a winning track.

LETS GO PENS!!!!!!!!!!!

Pens road trip was NOT a complete success!!!

The Pens seemed to be back to normal. The team we all know and love on October 30th against the Hurricanes. They were getting pucks deep, fore-checking, and playing a good, physical game. They beat the Hurricanes 3-0, Johnson recorded his first shutout for the season. This didn't last long...the Pens visited the Stars on November 3rd, and lost 3-5. They played nothing like the team that played the Hurricanes. It was so frustrating to watch. A high note was, our title man Sid got in a fight against Matt Niskanen and kicked his butt.

Then they went to play the Ducks on November 5th and lost 2-3. Sid scored the two goals for the Pens, but the team full short. They didn't start looking good till the last minutes of the game and then it was to late. The Pens ended their road trip on a good note. They beat the Coyotes 4-3 in a shootout. Sid and Geno both got a goal that night, but it was Letestu that scored the shootout goal that won the game for the Pens. It was nice to see the whole team contributing, not just the big name players. Hopefully, the Pens will have more success on the rest of their road games.

As always, GO PENS!!!!!!!!!

Pens vs Flyers 2-3 L

Well the game started out with two fights and lots of penalties. Things seem to go down hill from there. They were not playing very well during this game and only seem to come back when there was only a few minutes left. Flower looked good in the goal! Just so many penalties and the team seem to fall apart. They need to get back on track.

Pens vs Lightning 3-5 L

The Pens traveled the Tampa to play the Lightning. The Lightning have looked great since the new change in ownership and being under the management of Steve Yzerman. I attended the game and sat in the front. It was a good game, but after the first period the Pens seem to fall apart. They got many penalties which lead to 2 of the Lightning goals. So I will have pictures from the game up asap. The next game is against the Flyers and will be a home game. Hopefully we can get back to winning and get Flower some wins.

Lets Go Pens!!!!!

Pens lose to the Blues 0-1

The Pens played a hard and close game against the Blues. Johnson looked good in the goal and the Pens were creating some great chances. Unfortunately, the Pens lost in overtime. Johnson (Blues) scored the overtime goal on Johnny.

Pens vs. Predators game review (4-3 W)

First Period
Flower gets a chance to get a win as he starts in the goal. Sid's line is the first to start and Sid wins the faceoff. The Pens looked good, but they got held up behind their net and Predators Legwand scored the first goal. This was not the start Flower wanted, but he didn't let it get to him. Flower made some awesome saves, Predators where right on his doorstep and he came up with the big saves. Sid had some good chances, but the Predators goalie Rinne came up with some of his own big saves. Duper gets a penalty for interference, but the Pens kill it. Predators (Legwand) gets a penalty for hooking Geno. The Pens had some great chances on the powerplay, but the Pens fail to capitalize on their powerplay. Coach Bylsma puts the two-headed monster (Sid and Geno) on the ice and they begin to create some great offensive chances. The Pens defense looked good and was blocking quite a few scoring chances the Predators had and Flower was looking good. Martin scored a goal right when time expired and it wasn't counted. SCORE 0-1 (Predators leading)
Second Period
The Pens come out hungry to get a goal. Comie shots the puck and Geno shots the rebound a scores (his 3rd of the season). The Pens get a penalty for to many men on the ice. Flower makes some huge saves and the Pens kill the Predators powerplay. Then Sid gets a penalty for cross-checking Tootoo (personally Tootoo was asking for it). Unfortunately, the Predators score (Franson). There were lots of bodies in front of Flower. On the bright side, Geno slams Tootoo in the boards and then Klein comes to fight Geno. Engelland jumps in and fights Klein. Awesome fight and Engelland had some great hits. The Pens go on a powerplay as a result. The Pens don't score. Then Gogo slamed Hornqvist into the boards, giving Sullivan (Predator) a break away and Flower makes an awesome glove save. Sid scores (5th of the season) by hitting it off Rinne's pads and into the net. Then Geno almost scores, but it hits Sid in front of the net. Rupp gets a cross-checking penalty, even though a Predator player runs into Flower and Rupp was just helping out. Very physical game. Sid and Geno where the driving forces of the game. SCORE 2-2 (tie)
Third Period
The Pens start this period on the penalty kill, but the Pens successfully kill the Predators powerplay. Predators get a hooking penalty and Pens go on the powerplay. Rinne robs the Pens of any goals on the powerplay. Hornqvist (Predators) scores on a Predators offensive rush. The two-headed monster has some amazing shots on net, but Rinne is always there to make the save. Sid and Geno are putting on a show and doing great. Erat (Predators) and Gogo get penaltys. 4-on-4 hockey. Later on, Sid scores off a rebound shot (6th of the season). Rinne (Predators) gets penalty for delay of game. Pens fail to score on the powerplay. SCORE 3-3 (tie)

Overtime (4-on-4 hockey 5 mins)
Pens go out look aggresive and physical. Flower makes a save and goes over his shoulder and Duper comes to the rescue, by pushing the puck away from the goal line. Sid drops the puck off to Tanger who scores on a lazer shot at the blue line. Tanger becomes the player of the game.
Stars of the game
#1 Tanger
#2 Sid
#3 Geno

Good job PENS keep it up!!!

Lets keep it going!!!!!

Pens are on a three game winning streak. This is perfect, because the Pens are hitting the road for a three game road trip!! Tonight the Pens will go up against the Predators. Looks like Staal, Asham, Orpik, and Michalek will still be out of the line up. Don't know if Flower will start in the goal tonight. Lets make the Predators become the Pens prey and get another win!!!

As always, GO PENS!!!!

Pens off to a rocky start, but are now back on track

The season started with the home opener against the Flyers. Unfortunately, the Pens lost 2-3! Then the Pens lost another home game to the Canadiens (2-3). The Pens went on the road to play the Devils and came out with an 3-1 victory. Then the Pens returned home to face the Maple Leafs and did not come out with a W (losing 3-4)!!! Whem it seem the Pens where going to struggle some more in the new arena, they beat the Islanders 3-2 in overtime. Thus winning the first home game of the season!!! The Pens seemed to have hit somewhat of a winning streak now. Beating the Flyers 5-1 in Philadelphia and our captain Sid scored two goals and had an assist that night!! The Senators came to visit the Pens last Monday and it was Gonch's first time in the new arena. The Pens welcomed him by beating the Sens 5-2 and Sid once again scored a goal and had an assist in that game!!

More DEFENSE!!

The Penguins have signed Dallas Stars defenseman Andrew Hutchinson to a one-year $500,000 dollar contract. It looks like the Penguins are going to have a good defense, even with losing Gonch and Eaton.

On another note: The Pens will be holding a prospect development camp July 13-17 (for more information go to NHL.com).

Who is in and who is out? So far...

In: Penguins signed Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Craig to a one-year contract for $500,000 dollars along with Atlanta Thrashers left winger Brett Sterling to a one-year $500,000 dollar contract.

On defense: Two weeks ago, the Penguins re-signed defensemen Ben Lovejoy to a three-year contract. They also decided to do some upgrading, they signed New Jersey Devil defensemen Paul Martin and Phoenix Coyotes defensemen Zbynek Michalek each to five-year contracts. These two will be joining Brooksie, Tanger, Gogo, and Lovejoy (currently signed defensemen).

Out: Gonch signed a three-year contract with the Ottawa Senators. Receiving 5.5 million dollars annually. Also, Mark Eaton signed a two-year contract with the New York Islanders.

I will keep you posted on the latest roster news. It is sad to see Gonch and Eaton go, but lets hope these new guys can do a good job!!

Go Penguins!!!

2010 NHL Awards

Congrats to our captain Sid for winning the Messier Leadership Award, it just goes to show what a great leader and player Sid is! Also, he won the Rocket Richard Trophy along with Steven Stamkos!! Though Sid didn't win any major awards, but it doesn't matter. He doesn't need awards to show what a great captain and player he is!! I am so glad he is on our team...everyone else is just jealous=]

Congrats Sid!!! Go Pens!!!
