Pens Ready to take on Islanders! 3/30/13

The Pens are ready to take on the New York Islanders! Not only that the Pens will welcome Jarome Iginla to their lineup today! This should be an exciting game for all Pens fans to see how Iginla fits into the lineup. He will be playing on Geno's line along with Neal, so this should be interesting. On the injury front, Flower will be backing up Vokoun in the net today. Martin is out with an upper-body injury, per Bylsma it's a broken bone and he will be out through April and possibly the first round of the playoffs, so this is a big loss. Lastly Tanger is still on IR. Today's game should prove to be an entertaining one and hopefully the Pens can extend their streak to a whopping 15! Lets Go Pens!

The Pens lineup is as follows:

Forwards
Duper, Sid, Kuni
Iginla, Geno, Neal
Morrow, Sutter, Cooke
Glass, Adams, TK

Big news coming for Pittsburgh today as Ray Shero announced that the Pens had acquired Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla for two prospects and a 2013 first round draft pick. This trade makes the Pens a huge offensive powerhouse and hopefully it transfers on the ice. Some more good news, Geno was activated off IR today and will play tonight! There still is no update on Flower, but from what I can tell it's not believed to be a serious. Zatoff will back up Vokoun tonight.  Also the Pens have resigned Bennett to WBS. Play by Play Update News

Hello everyone

I will not be doing play by play updates on here. However a friend, EF, will be giving them on Twitter. I have the opportunity of going to a Lightning game after I received tickets from a speaker that came to my university. This is a great chance for me. I hate missing the Pens game, but this has to be done. Sorry and I will be back before the next game to update everyone about the Pens as usual.

As always,

The Pens have made it eleven in a row with a 4-2 over the New York Islanders tonight! They didn't give up that lead for the rest of the game and cleaned up their defensive play. Duper ended it with an empty netter goal that was scored with about a second left in the game, which was assisted by Vokoun! "Team Players" Beat "One Man Band"

The Pens have extended their winning streak to ten games now with a 2-1 win over the Capitals. It was a great showing by the Pens without two of their key players in Geno and Tanger. Sid assisted on both goals and had an empty net chance, but he was robbed by the goal post. Flower stood strong in the net and the Pens PK came up big after giving up the first goal to Ovechkin. Interesting enough NBC announcers said they were tried of this Sid and Ovechkin debate. Milbury said there is none and Sid was the better of the two. As the title above they said Sid was a team player and Ovechkin was a one man band making Sid the better hockey player. There you have it and said by Milbury himselft, shocker isn't it. It feels good to be a Pens fan and hopefully they keep this streak going. Geno and Tanger getting healthy is the next step and would put the Pens in even better position.

The Capitals are Behind Enemy Lines! 3/19/13

The Pens are set to take on the Washington Capitals tonight at the Consol Energy Center. The Pens are a hot streak with nine straight wins and they look to extend that to ten. The Pens will be without the services of both Geno and Tanger. The Pens have a huge hole to fill without Tanger in the lineup and will have to be more defensively smart tonight. Cooke didn't skate with the team this morning, but per Bylsma he will be a game-time decision. If Cooke doesn't play then the team will dress seven defensemen. Flower will start in the net and is coming off a 23rd career shutout, so look for him to come up big with the Pens being without the services of key players.

The Pens lineup is as follows:

Forwards
Duper, Sid, Kuni
Bennett, Sutter, Neal
Cooke, Jeffery, TK
Glass, Vitale, Adams

Defense
Orpik, Martin

Pens are Back Home to take on the Islanders! 3/10/13

The Pens have traveled back home from their game in Toronto to take on the Islanders. It's a back-to-back game run for the Pens and they have lost an hour, since it was spring forward last night! Not only may the Pens be tried, but they will be without the services of Geno once again. Geno has a upper body injury after a hit he took in Toronto. Hopefully the Pens can overcome all this and keep their four game winning streak going!

The Pens starting lineup is as follows:

Forwards
Kuni, Sid, Duper
Bennett, Jeffrey, Neal

Cooke, Sutter, TK
Glass, Vitale, Adams

Defense
Orpik, Martin
Eaton, Tanger
Despres, Niskanen
