The Penguins are Ready for Revenge Against the Bruins!

The Penguins are set to host the Boston Bruins at Consol Energy Center! The Penguins are ready to exact some revenge against the Bruins after being sweep in the playoffs, last season. The Penguins were rocking their pink/purple sweaters for warm-ups, as it's the Penguins night for Hockey Fights Cancer! With Sid being on fire to start the season, I think this is going to be a great game. If Flower continues to play solid, Sid doing his thing, Geno getting in on scoring, and the rest of the team staying to their game the Penguins will get the win tonight. It should be an exciting game and a tough one! Lets Go Pens!

The Pens lineup is as follows:

Forwards
Kuni, Sid, Duper
Jokinen, Geno, Megna
Glass, Sutter, Adams
Jeffrey, Vitale, Engo

Defense
Orpik, Martin

The Penguins are set to take on their cross-state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers! The Flyers come into this game 1-6 to start the season and are looking to get out of that slump. The Penguins only have one loss (5-1) this season and look to keep it that way. At the morning skate, D'Agostini skated today and Letang rotated in the defense pairings for the morning skate. The only ones missing were Bennett and Neal, who are both out with injuries. Engo played up on the fourth line and Byslma said that he might play forward for this game. We will have to wait and see, the lineup is a game time decision.

9:42- Flower really solid in the net right now for the Pens. Just making unreal saves left and right. The Pens need to pick up their offensive a little more.

Pens are in Florida!

The Penguins have traveled to Florida to take on the Panthers! Jeff Zakoff will make his NHL debut tonight in the net and the Penguins will look to go add another win, making them 4-0 to start the season. The Penguins are coming off a great game against the Carolina Hurricanes, in which Jokinen scored a hat trick. The Penguins have showed a great offensive start to their games and been able to collapse around the net, protecting the netminder. In this game that will be key with a inexperience (NHL games) goalie, but the Penguins have a strong defensive and one of the most lethal offenses in the league. The Penguins should be able to handle the Panthers, who played last night against the Lightning resulting in a 7-2 loss to the Bolts. Time for the Penguins to get to work!

The Pens lineup is as follows:

Forwards
Kuni, Sid, Duper
Jokinen, Geno, Bennett
Jeffrey, Sutter, Kobasew
Glass, Vitale, Adams

Defense
Orpik, Martin
Niskanen, Scuderi
Matta, Bortuzzo

NHL newbie Zatkoff in the cage!

Penguins 2013 Season Opener!!!

By MF, The Pens Hockey Show

Hockey is back!! Not just hockey, but Pittsburgh Penguins hockey! Is there a better way to have the Penguins season opener, then in Pittsburgh at Consol Energy Center? I think not! The Penguins are set to take on the New Jersey Devils tonight and it will be a great season/home opener.

Not everyone will be making their way out on the ice for the Pens (even the Devils for that matter), as we already have some players on the injured reserved and questionable list. First, Vokoun is out for about three to four months due the blood clot in his
, which he has had surgery on. Letang, the number two defensemen in the league, is on the injured reserve with a lower-body injury. However, that isn't the end to it. Coach Bylsma stated today that Neal would be a game-time decision, due to an upper body issue.

The Pens won't be the only ones without some top talent, the Devils will be having Martin Brodeur backup tonight. The Devils won't be without a top performing goalie though as Cory Schneider will take his place, but I think the Pens can capitalize on the new goalie for the Devils.

The Pens look good in practice and pre-season, but that shouldn't be a surprise as the Pens have some of the most elite players in the NHL. Many are worried about how Fleury will play? I think we need to stand by the Flower and support him, with such a massive support (since Pittsburgh is the best at it) the Flower will bloom tonight and carry that throughout the whole season, even into the post season.

The Pens lineup is as follows:

Forwards
Kunitz, Sid, Duper
Jokinen, Geno, Neal
Bennett, Sutter, Kobasew
Glass, Jeffrey, Adams

Defense
Orpik, Martin
Scuderi, Niskanen
Maatta, Bortuzzo

Flower in the net! Time to bloom!

2:25- Flower has made me speechless! Huge pad save and keeps the puck out of the net! Even the bench was in awe!

3:59- Devils get a penalty shot chance. Henrique gets the chance. Flower denies! There is a warrant being issued for Marc-Andre Fleury for GRAND theft.

7:30- FLOWER!! Shot goes off the post and he makes a no look save behind his back! AMAZING!!!!

8:18- ADAMS SCORES!!! Geno with a sick pass to Adams, as Glass makes a center line drive. Adams whips a hard shot pass Schneider! 3-0 Pens

9:40- Orpik is handing out FREE CANDY!!!

2:56- Zidlicky left wide open at the left side of the net, as Flower committed to another shot, he had a wide open net to work with. He just puts one through the blue paint going to the right corner. The Pens get lucky on that play.

4:31- Devils Volchenkov makes a big hit on Kobasew in the neutral zone. Kobasew loses his stick, on his way back to the bench, he lays a punishing hit on Vokchenkov. I felt it from my house...huge collision.

7:30- The Pens PP comes to an end and didn't amount to anything. The Pens registered zero shots on the PP. Devils are back to full strength.

9:30- The Pens will get their first PP of the game as Zidlicky heads to the box for hooking.

9:50- Geno makes a great play in the neutral zone with a leading pass up to Bennett. He carries it into Devils zone and snaps one up high. Schneider gets a piece of the puck with his glove, but it falls behind him into the blue paint. The Devils get lucky and are able to clear the puck.

10:44- Bennett with a solid effort, throwing his body in the way of a Devil's shot. He blocks it and the Pens are able to clear. Double shift for Bennett on that one.

12:05- The Pens with a solid effort in the D-zone keeping the Devils to the boards and clearing the puck.

14:48- Flower with a solid effort in the net and looking sharp. The makes a quick save on a rebound shot. Then few seconds later, Flower stands up on Brunner's shot and he gloves up the puck.

17:00- Neither team has had any real zone time to set up a cycle or anything. Both teams doing a good job of keeping that from happening. The Pens have been able to score on rushes and not having to set up zone time.

20:00- Second period is underway! Time for the Pens to keep the goals coming and keep up the solid performance! Neal didn't come out for the start of the second period. Lets Go Pens!
