Pens Take On The Jets! 3/28/13

The Pens are set to take on the Winnipeg Jets tonight at the Consol Energy Center and extend their winning streak to fourteen games! Big news coming for Pittsburgh today as Ray Shero announced that the Pens had acquired Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla for two prospects and a 2013 first round draft pick. This trade makes the Pens a huge offensive powerhouse and hopefully it transfers on the ice. Some more good news, Geno was activated off IR today and will play tonight! There still is no update on Flower, but from what I can tell it's not believed to be a serious. Zatoff will back up Vokoun tonight.  Also the Pens have resigned Bennett to WBS. Lets see if the Pens can keep the streak going and make it fourteen!

The Pens lineup is as follows:

Kuni, Sid, Duper

Morrow, Geno, Neal
Cooke, Sutter, TK
Glass, Vitale, Adams

Orpik, Martin
Despres, Eaton
Murry, Niskanen

Vokoun will start in the net!

Play By Play

5:09- Shots are 37-19 in favor of the Pens.

7:40- Wellwood gets a breakaway chance, but Vokoun shuts the door in his face. Amazing shoulder save by Vokoun, very patience on that play.

9:41- Sutter enters the zone making a pass to Cooke. He fires one cross-ice to TK, who crosses to the center then out to the wing. Montoya comes out to challenge and makes the save.

10:10- Kane has a wide open net chance, but Neal decides to play goalie and bats the puck away from harm.

11:26- Duper battles behind the net and wins the puck. He makes a pass to Sid right in front of the net. Somehow Montoya is able to make the pad save. Pure determination for that line.

13:31- Byfuglien falls down at the Jets' blue line and Sutter gets a slight breakaway chance. Montoya is able to make the pad save on his shot.

16:39- Pens kill off the second Jets PP. Back to full strength. Great PK work.

16:43- Pens kill off the first Jets PP. Amazing work by the Pens blocking all sort of shots and Vokoun was solid in the net. He was stopping point blank shots like it was nothing.

18:43- Niskanen will head off to the box for interference and Jets will get their third PP chance of the game.

1:23- DUPER SCORES A SHORTY!!! Byfuglien at the point lets the puck get out of the zone and Enstrom is very tired trying to get back. Duper gets to the puck first and creates a 2 on 1 chance with Glass. Duper looks at Glass, as a decoy, and he fires a rocket snap shot between the body and arm of Montoya. 4-0 Pens!

4:38- Pens ice the puck and Bylsma calls a timeout since a tired 4th line is on the ice.
