The Penguins are in Nashville to Play Their Tune!

By: MF, The Pens Hockey Show

The Penguins are now in Nashville to take on the Predators tonight at 8pm! The Penguins haven't gotten a win after returning from the Olympic break, they are 0-2. This is a perfect chance for the team to turn things around with a win in Nashville. This long road trip the Penguins are on will help the team bond after having such a long break and they will be able to mesh once again. On the injury front, there are no new updates. Beau Bennett, Chris Conner, and Thomas Vokoun skated after the team practice. Conner looks to be the closest to returning to team practices. Pekka Rinne will be back in the net for the Predators and Marc-Andre Fleury will mind the net for the Penguins. The rest of the lineup for the Pens will be game time decisions. The Penguins need to come out with speed, keep the Predators pinned in their own end, and put shots on net! Lets Go Pens!

The Pens lineup is as follows:

Forwards
Kuni, Sid, Gibbons
Jokinen, Geno, Neal
Pyatt, Sutter, Vitale
Glass, Adams, Kobasew

Defense
Orpik, Maatta
Scuderi, Niskanen
Despres, Bortuzzo

Flower in the cage!

3rd Period
0:00- PENS WIN 3-1 OVER THE PREDATORS! GREAT WIN BY THE PENS TONIGHT AND THEY LOOK TO BE BACK ON TRACK!

0:33- Preds empty their net!

0:55- The Pens PP comes to an end and time is clicking away!

2:54- The Pens are back on the PP as Cullen is in the box for unsportsmanlike conduct!

2:55- KUNI SCORES!!! HIS 200TH CAREER GOAL!!! The Preds hit the post and the Pens go the other way! Sid gets the puck and passes to Kuni! Kuni rips one pass Rinne! 3-1 Pens!

6:41- The Preds kill off the Pens short PP chance.

7:39- The Pens now have a PP for 58 seconds.

8:41- Legwand is called for interference! 4 on 4 hockey for 1:02 and then a Pens PP chance.

9:39- Niskanen will now head off to the sin bin for hooking and that will give the Preds a PP chance.

12:31- NISKANEN STRIKES AGAIN!! Flower makes a decision to go out and challenge for the puck! He pokes it away, but falls. He gets up and passes the puck up ice! The Pens get a 3 on 2 chance as Sid carries the puck into the Preds zone! Sid gives the puck to Niskanen and he fires the Nisk-Cannon! It flies pass Rinne! It's a PP goal! 2-1 Pens!

13:13- The Pens are going on the PP as Smith sits for hooking.

13:40- This game is such a defensive game going on right now. It looks like the next goal could be the game winner in this contest.

17:27- Flower makes a huge pad save on a point blank shot and dives out to glove the puck!

20:00- The Pens need to take back the lead and keep it! Third period time! Lets finish this! Lets Go Pens!

2nd Period
0:00- This game is tied up at 1-1 after two periods!

0:49- Maatta takes the puck behind the net and dishes it out in front of the net. The bouncing puck is finally cleared out by the Preds.

3:04- This is a defensive styled game tonight. Gibbons is back on the ice and looks to be just fine. Probably an equipment issue.

5:36- Gibbons heads down the runway to the Pens locker room. I am not sure why, but will update once I know something.

6:44- Gibbons is set free from the box as the Pens kill off yet another Preds PP. Great PK tonight for the Pens.

8:44- The Preds have a PP for 1:55!

8:49- The Pens are called for too many men on the ice. 4 on 4  for 5 seconds.

9:10- Geno rings yet another shot off the goal post!

10:44- The Pens will have a chance at another PP as Del Zotto is sent to timeout for tripping up Gibbons.

11:46- Geno gets space in the slot! His shot beats Rinne, but not the goal post!

13:34- The Pens have another successful PK as Despres is released from the box.

15:34- Despres takes a penalty for holding and the Preds head onto the PP.

19:21- HORNQVIST SCORES! Fisher fires one from the blue line and Flower makes the save. Hornqvist flags down the rebound and puts it around the outstretched pad of Flower. 1-1 tie game.

19:33- NISKANEN SCORES! Sid protects the puck as he makes his way behind the net and outlets to Niskanen! The Nisk-Cannon fires and puts one into the net! The Pens strike first! 1-0 Pens!

20:00- Time to get back to the action packed game! Second period is underway! The Pens need to put shots on net and outwork the Preds! Lets Go Pens!

1st Period
0:00- First period ends and we are scoreless! Shots are 8-7 in favor of the Pens!

0:23- Bortuzzo and Wilson drop the gloves and it's a heated fight! Both fighters end up bleeding at the end of it!

0:26- The Pens kill off the Preds PP! Glass breaks his stick, but ends up blocking three shots right in a row! Bob Errey put it perfectly, "Bulletproof Glass".

2:26- Neal is going to the sin bin for boarding. I actually agree with this call...not a safe hit by Neal. (bad Neal). Preds get their first PP of the game.

3:14- The Preds seem to strike first, but the refs review the goal. It's determined that it's not a goal, because of a distinct kicking motion putting the puck in the net! Time to wake up Pens!

5:48- Smith lets go of a rocket shot that rings off the crossbar! Kuni gets a chance down the wing going the other way, but Rinne comes out to make the save!

8:11- The Pens had some good looks on the PP, but don't capitalize. Moser is released from the box.

8:25- Geno gets a great chance at the side of the net, but Geno shoots the puck just wide of the net!

10:11- The Pens will get a chance on the PP as Moser sits in the box for slashing.

11:50- Flower makes a huge save. He will be tested in this game, but I think he will handle it well.

12:39- Jokinen makes a great effort to keep the puck in the Preds zone even after falling down! Neal tries a shot, but the puck is poked away.

15:16- Orpik fires a shot on net and Rinne makes the save. The Pens are getting shots on net and that is what they need to keep on doing!

17:22- Sid and Kuni get a 2 on 1 chance! Sid passes across to Kuni, but Rinne comes up with a huge save!

17:50- The Pens are playing a strict defensive game to start this game.

20:00- The puck has dropped and it's game on! The Pens need to pin the Preds in their own zone and put tons of shots on Rinne! Lets Go Pens!
