Pens Dominate Islanders in Game 1!

The Pens come out with a dominating 5-0 performance against the Islanders for Game 1 at the Consol Energy Center! The Pens put on a clinic during the entire game on both ends on the ice and on special teams. The Pens capitalized on their PP chances and then shutdown the Islanders PP chances with a great PK. The Pens looked really impressive on the ice tonight and Flower was solid in the net. Bennett and Sutter both made their NHL playoff debuts. Bennett made it count by scoring his first playoff goal and the first of the game! Sutter was solid on the PK for the Pens. Tavares also made his NHL playoff debut and the Pens welcomed him Pittsburgh style. He wasn't able to register a shot on net and the Pens were physical on him. Everyone taking a shot at him and laying big hits. He is going to need a lot of ice packs after the beating he took tonight. Iginla and Jokinen earned two assists in their first playoff game in a Penguins uniform. Murray an Morrow made their presences known physically. Neal was hit on the walls by Hamonic and went down. He went to the locker room soon after and didn't return for the rest of the game. Also at the end of the game Jokinen suffered a leg on leg hit from Reasoner and went down. No updates on either of them. It was a great way to start of the series and the Pens need to carry that momentum into Game 2 on Friday! Pens lead the series 1-0 and Flower earned his sixth career playoff shutout, which ties him with Tom Barrasso for the Penguins franchise record for most playoff shutouts! Lets keep up the great work Pens! As the crowd waving their white towels chanted, "We want the Cup!"
